Hearing the entirety of Tapestry for the first time was a life-changing experience for me. I remember being just absolutely in awe of the music I was hearing. I grew up listening to a lot of blues from the same time period that King was creating her album. As someone who has always had a soft spot for folk-like blues music, Tapestry was this all-encompassing, perfect combination of sounds and genres that I enjoy. More than anything, when writing and recording my EP I wanted to emulate King’s vocal articulations and phrasing. Her soft, but strong, slightly raspy voice is an incredible sound, and I believe her approach is something I base my vocal approach on. I do believe that out of all the albums I based my own off of, Tapestry is by far the most different stylistically from the rest. I think that this shows the versatility of the Blackberry Pyper sound and how we are constantly taking new inspiration from music far and wide, new and old.
